Don't feel like cooking? This provisions box will certainly do the trick.

The Aman New York bills itself as a five-star luxury hotel. More accurately, it’s a fortress (albeit a very high-end fortress) in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. A minimalist repurposing of the historic Crown Building, it opened in August of 2022 to a sea of fanfare; a cultishly revered resort brand introducing North America to its first urban outpost. Its 83 suites, inspired by Far Eastern motifs, start at $3,200 per night, placing it among the most expensive lodging in the city. It features a state-of-the-art gym with cryotherapy and an indoor pool as photogenic as any on your Instagram feed. And its elevated food and drink concepts are a privilege afforded exclusively to guests and private members.
The dual restaurants — Italian-themed Arva and Japanese-flavored Nama — recently updated their respective menus, escalating the authenticity value of each. At the former, you can now enjoy Venetian Style Cuttlefish and Rigatoni Amatriciana. From the latter, you’ll savor impossibly tender A5 Wagyu Tataki as well as Chawanmushi, a Japanese egg custard studded with uni and caviar.
The property promises that these fine dining concepts will open to the public … someday. In the meantime, however, the chefs and tastemakers on-site have just launched a way for curious locals to amass a taste of Aman without having to fork over the price of an overnight stay. It’s called Weekend Provisions by Aman New York. For the modest sum (read: small fortune) of $4,500, you can now secure a supply box of the hotel’s greatest culinary hits — enough to cater two lunches and a dinner for up to six guests. Here’s how it works: email [email protected] three days before you intend to pick up the insulated cooler from the hotel’s home base at the corner of 57th Street and 5th Avenue. According to intel provided exclusively to Food & Wine, the weighty payload contains a collection of “meticulously chosen seafood, decadent caviar, world-class Champagne and wine, mixologist-crafted cocktails, and the finest cuts of raw proteins for the grill.”

If you’re not in the takeout mood, there exists at least one legal way to sneak your way into an Aman experience: The Jazz Club is the only venue on the property that non-guests can access. The throwback 1920s-era parlor holds an intimate stage and bar, hosting live performances beginning at 8 pm until midnight, from Tuesday through Saturday. It has a secret entrance on 9 West 56th Street, and reservations are required.
Once inside, you can enjoy smaller bar bites such as truffled grilled cheese or lobster tartine to pair alongside an array of cocktails collected from the global portfolio of Aman destinations. The Amangiri is a sterling example: a muscular stirring of rye, cognac, vermouth, and cacao bitters served up. After a few of those have gone down, who knows? Perhaps booking yourself a $3,200 suite won’t seem so extravagant, after all.
